The origin of the story could be found in Plat. Theag. on page 128d. This painting is a depiction of the execution that would debate place if the Greek people felt like their ship canal were being questioned. For the Greek people there was already a known itinerary of emotional state to follow. Theses beliefs and methods were not to be questioned nor interfered with.
