This movie shows cultural clashes between these Asian mothers and their daughters when they raise their children. to each one of these mothers went through different hardships that kept secret for long time. The movie shows how the mothers past experiences help their daughters life.
Lenas mother, Ying Ying played an distinguished mapping in shaping her daughters future. The movie shows Ying Yings past history that makes her depressed throughout her life, and helps her give important lesson to her daughter.
